Bus Drop-Off/Pick-Up Concerns
Hello Everyone,
There have been numerous reports of parents who are late dropping off their children at their designated bus stops and the parents are then following the bus route and attempting to catch up with the school bus and drop their children off at a stop further along the route. This practice is dangerous and is not in accordance with the District's policy of children being picked up and dropped off at their designated bus stop only.
Thank you.

Safety First
Parents,
Student safety is our top priority. It has come to our attention that some families are dropping children off on Kolb Road in the mornings, and expecting them to cross the street and finish walking to school. While we understand the frustration of the morning traffic, please DO NOT ever drop students off on Kolb Road. If you are driving your children to school, please follow the established protocol.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Open Enrollment Bus Ridership Information
Dear Open Enrollment Parent/Guardian:
Last school year, applications were accepted from open enrollment families wishing to obtain bus service. Permission was granted based on capacity at that time and the accommodation was made for that school year only, noting to families that it may not be available in future school years.
As we enter the new school year, we are in the process of assessing our in-district ridership to determine the capacity for Open Enrollment riders again. As an open enrollment family, transportation of your student is your responsibility and will continue to be your responsibility until you have applied for and have been accepted for ridership during the 2012-2013 school year.
If you would like to request that your student ride an existing bus during the 2012-2013 school year, an application will be available on the district website beginning September 4, 2012. The website address is www.cfsd16.org. Click on Parent Info, then Transportation. All requests received by September 10th will be given equal consideration. If the capacity of our buses is insufficient to accommodate all the students, then a random selection process will be used to accept riders. Applications submitted after September 10th will be considered on a first come, first serve basis.
The application requires you to determine the bus number and bus stop you would like to access. Bus schedules will be available at the beginning of August on the district website: www.cfsd16.org. Click on Parent Info, then Transportation.
Please note that if the requested information on the application is not complete, the request will not be considered.

Parking Lot Flyer
Parent Drop-Off and Pick Up
at Ventana Vista
As many of you have experienced, the parking lot at Ventana Vista can become quite congested at arrival and dismissal times. To ensure the safety of students and adults, please adhere to the following guidelines:
• Please allow your child to utilize the district school bus service whenever possible. Bus service is available to open enrollment families through application.
• If you are unable to utilize the bus service, please consider carpooling with a neighbor. The fewer cars coming through the lot the better!
• The front parking lot may not be used to drop students off or pick them up. In the morning, the front lot will be closed when full. In the afternoon, cars will not be permitted into the front lot after 2:30 PM.
• Students may be dropped off or picked up using the north parking lot only.
• Enter off of Kolb Road. Turn right onto Mountain Shadows. Form one lane only, until past the entrance to the housing division at the end of Mountain Shadows. Do not block the entrance to the housing division. Split into two lanes along the pick-up curb.
• Please do not park in the housing division. It is illegal to do so.
• Please do not form a third lane in the interior parking lot, waiting for cars to exit.
• Parking is permitted in designated spaces in the north lot only. It is not permitted anywhere along Mountain Shadows. As cars exit the north lot, other cars may enter to take their place.
• If you do park your vehicle, please walk across the crosswalk to meet your child. Children will not be permitted to cross into the parking lot without an adult.
• Please exercise extreme caution (and patience!) in the parking lots at all times. We thank you for remembering to be courteous to our crossing guards and staff members!
