Ventana Vistas 8.29.16

VENTANA VISTAS NEWSLETTER
Have you wondered why the principal closes the gate at 7:55? We know school starts at 8am so why is that happening???

The reason is that we expect students to be in their classroom at 8am when the bell rings not in the parking lot or just inside the front gate.

We need your help getting students to school on time. There are many systems in place that become complicated when students are late, even if it is only 2-3 minutes. Lunch count and attendance are two important things that get fouled up when students are not in their classrooms when the bell rings at 8am. To help with this, we close the gate at the first bell, which rings at 7:55am. Students who come after 7:55am will then go through the office and get a slip from Avril at the front desk. Your child will only be marked tardy if he/she is not in the classroom when the bell rings at 8am.

While the detour through the office may seem like it slows you up, what is happening is that we are keeping track of all students who pass through in case they don't make it to class on time and get marked absent. That way we know they are on campus. If we didn't do this, Avril would call you and ask where your child is and that might worry you.

Help us out by getting your child through the gate by 7:55am!
