Parent–teacher conferences are approaching and are an important component of ongoing home–school communication and family involvement in school. The parent– teacher conference is an opportunity for parents to learn about their children’s progress in school and for teachers to gain insights into their students’ home and community lives. When you tell the teacher about your child’s skills, interests, needs, and dreams, the teacher can help your child more.
Ask to see data about your child’s attendance, grades, and test scores. Find out whether your child is meeting school expectations and academic standards. Your conference will last about 20 minutes. Here are some suggestions to help you have a productive conference.

Make a list of questions to ask during the conference.
Talk with your child about his or her progress in school.
Think about ways you would like to be involved in your child’s learning so that you can discuss them with the teacher.

Hopefully you have already signed up for a conference with your teacher and/or specialists.
Communication about students and their learning is key to their success.
For open enrollment families, the application will open on November 1st for the 2017-2018 school year, which is a month earlier than in the past.  All open enrollment families MUST apply every year.   Please read the letter from Dr. Kamerzell for important deadlines.
