VENTANA VISTAS 12.12.16

VENTANA VISTAS NEWSLETTER
It's time to plan for the Science Fair!  What a great project to work on during the full week after the holidays that school is not in session! The registration form is available here.  If you need more information, watch a short video at this link.

Congratulations to The VV Robotics Team the VVisionaries
(Ethan A, Brennan A., Henry B., Samantha F., Gavin K., Miles N., Sage N., and Isabel T.) They competed in the Regional First Lego League Tournament and while they did not win, they had a terrific innovative idea for their research project. They believe that turning water hazards at golf courses into dragonfly habitats is the solution to a number of environmental problems. How exciting it is for the team to receive very positive responses from 2 area golf courses!  This team's work has a very good chance of being implemented widely.  If your child is interested in doing more Robotics, there is a Community Schools Class that begins in January that you may be able to join.

Thanks to all who contributed to our Student Council Service Project. They collected a record number of rolls of toilet paper and more toothpaste and toothbrushes than ever before!  Wow!

Parking Lot
In the new year, we will be making a small change to the pick up procedures at the end of the school day in the Parent Pick Up lot. On January 9, each family will be receiving a card with the child's last name on it to put on the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle. This will help us locate the child who belongs in each car more quickly. Once your child/ren is in the vehicle, you will turn the name card over so that we know you are no longer needing us to locate a child.  All grade level cards will be color coded. The card you receive will be color coded to the youngest child's grade. Families with several children will locate their oldest child with the youngest child's grade. We believe these small change will help speed up the process of pick up at the end of the day. Be looking for a short in next week's newsletter that will show the new process.
General Meeting This Week
Stop by the Kaleidoscope Room on Thursday, December 15 for the FFO General Meeting at  8:15am. Enjoy a cup of coffee (and maybe a sweet treat), meet some new folks and learn about all that the FFO is doing for VV!  Travis Kolter, from Community Schools will be our guest speaker.  He will be discussing end-of-year giving and tax credits.  Can’t make it to the meeting?  The minutes, 2016-17 FFO budget and by laws are available in the front office.
